The company Fruchtimport vanWylick is aware of its role as an important member of society and is accordingly committed to various social projects - including the integration of refugees.

We are therefore pleased to announce that - in cooperation with the initiative "Kompass Deutschland" - we were able to give a young Syrian woman an insight into the fruit and vegetable trade during a two-week internship in our company.

Milan Khalijko was assigned to the vanWylick head office in Düsseldorf during her internship. She mainly accompanied us 1st and 3rd year apprentices in our daily tasks on the way to becoming a businesswoman/man for wholesale and foreign trade.

In order to better convey the contents (of the training) and information, she was of course allowed to actively participate. In the first week of the internship, the focus was on the basic tasks of accounting and administration. In addition, she was included in the weekly product information, in order to bring her even closer to the profession of "fruit and vegetables".

In the second week of her internship, she was assigned to retail, more precisely to product management France, product management banana and direct sales. There she gained a lot of new knowledge about ordering procedures, complaints and the organisation of transports. Committed and interested, she took part in the daily tasks and quickly understood the connections from the purchase of the goods from the producer to the delivery to the customers.

In addition, we visited the Essen branch with Milan for a day to expand our knowledge of merchandise.

A final discussion with Dirk Allerding (managing director) and Bastian Haupts (trainer) successfully rounded off the two-week internship. Milan received a work certificate in which it was noted that she would be welcome to apply for an apprenticeship as a businesswoman in wholesale and foreign trade at vanWylick.

Full of pride, Ms Khalijko presented the work certificate to us, the trainees, and thanked us for the work experience in our company.

On behalf of all the trainees involved at the head office, we would like to thank them for this internship and this great experience and hope to be able to participate in further social projects in the future.
